The SAIFR-Princeton Fellowship awardee will be enrolled in a Masters program at ICTP-SAIFR/IFT-UNESP in São Paulo and will be a Visiting Student Research Collaborator at Princeton University. The fellowship will be awarded in 2019 for the 2020/2021 program, and preference will be given to students in their last year of undergraduate studies.
The first six months of this program (February 2020 – July 2020) are spent at the IFT-SAIFR in São Paulo. This period will include preparatory courses which will provide an excellent preparation for the second part of the program.
The next ten months of the program (August 2020 – June 2021) take place at the CUNY/Princeton Center for the Physics of Biological Function. The student will take graduate-level courses at Princeton University and collaborate with researchers at the Center during this period. More information about the CUNY/Princeton Center for the Physics of Biological Function can be found here.
The last six months would be again at the IFT-SAIFR (July 2021 – December 2021). During this period, the student would complete his masters dissertation in collaboration with researchers in São Paulo and at the CUNY/Princeton Center.
All costs will be be covered jointly by SAIFR and the CUNY/Princeton Center.
The selection for this fellowship is mainly through the exam results at the Journeys into Theoretical Physics school (see School Format for more details), but other factors such as diversity will be considered. The top scorers on the exam will be interviewed by skype and asked to submit a short motivation letter, their school transcripts and the contacts of two referees. It is estimated that one student per year will be accepted for this SAIFR-Princeton Fellowship.
